Gervonta Davis annihilated a former world champion who wobbled Terence Crawford to his core.

For years, the pair of formidable fighters have been right at the top of the pound-for-pound conversation.

However, with the legends operating in different weight classes, a showdown between them is unlikely to ever come to fruition.

Gervonta Davis destroyed Yuriorkis Gamboa with a huge uppercut

On June 28, 2014, Terence Crawford battled it out with Yuriorkis Gamboa, in a huge homecoming at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska, USA.

For the most part, ‘Bud’ dominated the contest, dropping his rival on multiple occasions. However, in a moment of madness, Gamboa rocked Crawford with a monstrous right hand.

While the now four-weight world champion survived the storm and eventually stopped the Cuban, Gervonta Davis undoubtedly produced a better performance against the former featherweight King.

On December 28, 2019, the Maryland brawler battled it out with Gamboa for the vacant WBA Regular lightweight title, at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

In the second round, Davis dropped his adversary with a sneaky left hand, before doing the same thing in the eighth.

Showcasing fighting spirit in abundance, Gamboa made it all the way to the final segment, despite suffering an injured Achilles early in the contest.

But when Davis put him down for a third time with a dynamite uppercut, the referee decided to call a halt to the contest.

Fighter Gervonta Davis finished gave Vasiliy Lomachenko a very tough test

Crawford isn’t the only legend that Davis has outshone during his sparkling career.

On one occasion, Davis managed to knock out a warrior who’d pushed Vasiliy Lomachenko to his limits.

The pair have been embroiled in a long-standing feud, but have yet to trade leather themselves.

But it’s the American who has an advantage in the verbal sparring because Davis ruthlessly finished a boxer who took Lomachenko the distance.
