George Foreman once sent a sparring partner hurtling towards the canvas after taking a massive shot the month before.

In his remarkable career, the American cemented his status as one of the biggest punchers the sport of boxing has ever seen, terrifying his opponents with his fearsome knockout blows.

However, he couldn’t just dish out punishment, but take it too. On one occasion, Foreman was on the end of a 15-second combination from Evander Holyfield and kept on fighting.

But while he managed to survive that onslaught without being hurt too badly, one of his former teammates rattled him with an explosive shot.

George Foreman dropped Brent Bowers in sparring

Brent Bowers was a regular sparring partner of George Foreman, with the pair regularly going to war inside the gym.

In a fascinating interview, the former boxing star opened up about the time he connected with a bomb on the legend and how the all-time great later got his revenge.

In an interview with Khou 11, the warrior said: “I hit George with a double right hand, the second right hand” before pointing towards the ground, indicating that Foreman hit the canvas.

Bowers added: “He never knocked me down one time, a month later he hit me with a double right hand and knocked me down. He got me back a month later.

“He said, ‘Brent, I’m sorry’, but I knew why he did it, he had to get me back.”
