Gennadiy Golovkin was stunned by a massive uppercut from a huge underdog in a thrilling fight

Gennadiy Golovkin was on the receiving end of a monstrous shot from a boxing legend.

Throughout his career, ‘Triple G’ proved himself as one of the biggest punchers in the sport, terrifying opponents with his devastating power.

However, he couldn’t just dish it out, but take it too, regularly exhibiting his granite chin.

And on one occasion, his punch resistance really came into play when he had to eat a monstrous blow.

WOW: Was Gennadiy Golovkin really undefeated before he fought Canelo Alvarez?

Gennadiy Golovkin took a massive shot from Kell Brook

On September 10, 2016, Gennadiy Golovkin went to war with Kell Brook in an entertaining battle at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Going into the bout, the Kazakh was a massive favorite. After all, ‘Special K’ was moving up two weight divisions to take on the challenge.

The size difference quickly told, with Golovkin wobbling his opponent with a massive left hook.

However, rather than letting the legend overwhelm him, Brook bit down on his gumshield and began firing back, landing astonishing right hands that caught the attention of the crowd.

In the second round, the then IBF welterweight world champion unleashed a blistering uppercut that caught the pound-for-pound icon by surprise.

At this point, the shocked spectators began to genuinely feel like an astronomical upset could be on the cards.

However, Triple G was no stranger to adversity. Golovkin once had to grind Gabe Rosado down while suffering with the flu, so it came as no surprise that he wasn’t about to let his belts go against a boxer who wasn’t even a natural middleweight.

Over the course of the next three rounds, the all-time great marched down his rival, connecting with blistering shots that broke Brook’s orbital bone and eventually forced the Brit’s corner to throw in the towel.

Gennadiy Golovkin was willing to do something drastic to make the Floyd Mayweather fight happen

Brook wasn’t the only skilled welterweight that Golovkin wanted to share the squared circle with.

The future Hall of Famer would’ve loved to have gotten his hands on Floyd Mayweather.

Alas, the power puncher never had his opportunity to trade blows with ‘Money’.

Interestingly, Golovkin was willing to do something drastic to get Mayweather in the ring.
