Four opponents Gervonta Davis needs to fight after completing boxing retirement U-turn

Gervonta Davis was seemingly edging towards the end of his boxing career before his shock draw with Lamont Roach on Saturday night.

Davis’ 30-fight win streak came to an end in New York on Saturday night when his bout with Roach ended in a majority decision.

The shock result would also see Davis surprisingly take a knee in the fight, as many fans and fighters thought ‘Tank’ should have lost the fight. However, the draw means that Davis retains his WBA World Lightweight title.

However, the result has changed Davis’ stance on retirement. Having previously implied that his boxing career would end before 2026, the boxer revealed new plans.

Speaking in the post-fight press conference, Davis said, “Yeah, it definitely changed my plans, it definitely changed my plans [for retirement]. I probably got four more fights now.”

With four fights potentially on the horizon for Davis, here are some of the potential next fights for ‘Tank’ before retirement.

Although rematches with Roach and Isaac Cruz are possible next steps for Davis, here are four fresh opponents ‘Tank’ should face.

Shakur Stevenson

Shakur Stevenson currently holds the WBC World Lightweight title. This means that if Davis wants to unify his division, he may look to his fellow American next.

Stevenson defeated former part-time electrician Josh Padley in February 2025, earning a stoppage victory over his short-notice opponent. Following the win, Stevenson and Davis exchanged words online.

This indicates that there is a mutual interest in a unification bout between the pair, which could be a blockbuster next fight for ‘Tank’.

Keyshawn Davis

Another lightweight champion who could be next for Gervonta Davis is Keyshawn Davis.

Keyshawn Davis recently became a world lightweight champion, claiming the WBO title following a fourth-round knockout over Denys Berinshyk.

With a record of 13-0, Keyshawn Davis is a new player in the lightweight division, however, a fight with ‘Tank’ would be an intriguing unification bout.

Keyshawn Davis has said he will not fight Stevenson, however, a bout with ‘Tank’ could be a possibility for ‘The Businessman’.

Vasiliy Lomachenko

Currently, the holder of the IBF World Lightweight title, Vasiliy Lomachenko has not fought since his TKO victory over George Kambosos Jr. in May 2024.

Not scheduled to fight, a fight between Davis and Lomachenko would be a huge lightweight clash.

Only losing to the likes of Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney, Lomachenko has proved himself to be a capable challenge to any top fighter, including Davis.

Devin Haney

With so few fights seemingly remaining for Davis, a mega-fight is on the wish list for fans when it comes to final outings for the boxer.

In terms of huge fights being possible for Davis, there might be none bigger than a fight with Haney.

Undefeated Haney is set to return on May 2nd, facing Jose Carlos Ramirez in Times Square, New York. Competing on the same card as rival Ryan Garcia, the event may set up a rematch between the pair.

However, a fight between Davis and Haney would be one of the biggest in the sport in recent years, meaning it could bypass a Garcia rematch for either fighter.
