Floyd Mayweather’s team sparked huge brawl in the ring during historic title fight

Floyd Mayweather once sparked one of the biggest brawls in boxing history during his historic fight against Zab Judah.

Floyd Mayweather has been involved in some of the most iconic moments in boxing history throughout his incredible career, making an astounding amount of money in the process.

Since his retirement from professional boxing in 2017, after destroying Conor McGregor in a historical superfight, Mayweather has continued training top prospects in the sport.

Although fighters like Shakur Stevenson have been compared to ‘Money’ Mayweather, there may never be a fighter truly like him in the sport again.

One fight he is most famously remembered for is his April 8, 2006 title fight against Zab Judah.

Floyd Mayweather’s team sparked huge brawl during fight

After tearing through the featherweight division and subsequently claiming several lightweight titles, Mayweather challenged himself by moving up to welterweight to take on Zab Juddah for the vacant IBO and IBF welterweight titles.

The two had already agreed to fight each other, but Judah’s loss to Carlos Baldomir a few months prior threw the fight into jeopardy. Fortunately, the two teams reworked the contract, and the fight went ahead.

Early in the fight, which took place in April, Judah caused the slick defensive boxer some problems and even managed to knock Mayweather down early in the fight, but it wasn’t officially ruled a knockdown.

Despite Judah’s early success, midway through the fight, Mayweather began to showcase exactly why he was widely regarded as the greatest fighter in the sport and made Judah bleed in round five.

However, it was round 10 that is widely remembered by boxing fans around the world, as Judah landed a huge low blow with less than 10 seconds left of the round, followed by a big shot to the back of Mayweather’s head.

Floyd’s team deemed the fouls intentional and immediately stormed the ring, sparking a huge brawl between the two teams.

Roger Mayweather, Floyd’s trainer and uncle, confronted Judah, who was immediately backed by his father, Yoel Juddah. Yoel threw a punch at Roger, which set the ring alight.

Zab then got involved in the melee, throwing punches at Roger, meanwhile, Floyd stood in the corner attempting to recover from the low blow. The brawl that followed was one of the ugliest sights in boxing history as the two teams clashed in the ring, causing mayhem, with the police attempting to break it all up.

Mayweather went on to win the fight via decision

Although there seemed a very high likelihood that the fight would be called and result in a disqualification, the fight continued once order was restored.

Mayweather professionally sailed to a unanimous decision win, picking up the IBF and IBO welterweight titles.

Judah came into the bout already with a reputation of being a controversial figure, as in 2001 he attacked referee, Jay Nady after he waved off his fight against Kostya Tszyu after Tszyu knocked him out.
