Floyd Mayweather was pulled away by members of his team after he squared up to an interviewer following his controversial win over Victor Ortiz.
Floyd Mayweather is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, donning a perfect 50-0 record and finishing his career as one of the biggest stars the sport has ever seen.
Throughout his boxing career, ‘Money’ Mayweather scored some incredible wins inside the ring, one of which came against Canelo Alvarez in 2013, dominating the future face of the sport.
The boxing GOAT also took part in the highest grossing PPV event in the history of the sport when he took on Manny Pacquiao in a fight years in the making.
However, it was a fight against Victor Ortiz in 2011 which will go down as one of Mayweather’s most controversial moments of all time.

Floyd Mayweather scored one of the most controversial KOs of all time
Following a huge win over Shane Mosley, fans continued to call for Mayweather to fight against Manny Pacquiao after the two had been involved in negotiations for several months.
Despite that, the star announced that he was scheduled to take on Ortiz for the WBC welterweight title, which was Mayweather’s first fight for 16 months.
As usual, Mayweather started off the first few rounds of the fight extremely solid and fast and was punishing the champion with his speed.
However, in round four, Ortiz began to land some heavy shots on Mayweather and it seemed as though he was potentially turning the tide of the fight.
Despite that, after putting ‘Money’ in the corner and unleashing on him with a barrage of strikes, the champion then landed a headbutt on the mouth of Mayweather, opening up a cut.
After a brief pause in the action and a point deduction, the referee in charge, Joe Cortez spoke to both fighters briefly and signalled them to continue fighting.
As Cortez turned away to signal for the timer to continue, Ortiz went to hug Mayweather, and upon the break, Mayweather landed a crushing left hook to the defenseless champion.
Ortiz looked in the direction of Cortez and was immediately hit with a right hand which knocked him out cold.
Mayweather was dragged away by his team after almost fighting interviewer
Following the extremely controversial fight, Mayweather was interviewed in the ring by Larry Merchant, who made Mayweather aware of the crowd’s reaction to the knockout.
Merchant clearly felt that ‘Money’ had won the fight via a cheap shot and tempers began to flare between him and Mayweather who continued to defend his actions.
“You know what I’m gonna do, you never gave me a fair shake, do you know that? So I’m gonna go and let you talk to Victor Ortiz, alright? I’m through. Put someone else on to give me an interview,” Mayweather said as he started to get heated with Merchant.
“What are you talking about? What are you talking about?” Merchant said as he came nose to nose with Mayweather.
“You never give me a fair shake, HBO need to fire you because you don’t know s— about boxing. You ain’t s—,” Mayweather said as his team began to pull him away in an attempt to calm him down.
“I wish I was 50 years younger because I’d kick your a–,” Merchant bravely told him.
