Many people love to debate who belongs at the top of the list when it comes to the greatest boxers to ever compete.
Although Muhammad Ali is often one of the front runners for the conversation, many people would often opt for modern great Floyd Mayweather.
‘Sugar’ Ray Robinson is another fighter who may be included in such conversations, while Mike Tyson is also a worthy candidate.
One person who can be considered a boxing expert weighed in on the debate in 2024, with some potentially surprising omissions.

Frank Warren includes two heavyweights in greatest fighters of all time list
Boxing promoter Frank Warren has been around the game for decades. This means that when it comes to subjective debates within the sport, his opinion holds a lot of value.
Speaking to DAZN, Warren was asked to name his top five boxers of all time. His list included two heavyweight greats.
Former ‘Fighter of the Decade’ Ali was the first name to be chosen by Warren, as he would be for many others. Alongside him at number four was another one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, Larry Holmes.
With the two former champions being the only heavyweights included by Warren, this means the likes of George Foreman, Lennox Lewis, and Tyson all suffered omission.

Floyd Mayweather excluded as Sugar Ray Leonard included in Frank Warren’s top five
Three non-heavyweight fighters were included in Warren’s list. However, potentially the most surprising omission was 50-0 fighter, Mayweather.
Included at the number two spot was ‘Sugar’ Ray Leonard, who said he would have beaten Mayweather in a fight. Leonard is also the only one of the ‘Four Kings’ to get a mention, as Roberto Duran, Marvin Hagler, and Thomas Hearns all miss out.
Former ‘Fighter of the Year’ ‘Sugar’ Ray Robinson was the athlete who occupied the number three spot for the promoter.
Finally, the fifth place on the list belonged to Carlos Monzon. Another former ‘Fighter of the Century’, the Argentine claimed the final spot after a brief moment of hesitation from Warren.
