‘Disgusting’… Fans react to Canelo punishing Mexican influencer with brutal body shot ahead of undisputed clash

Canelo Alvarez is set to face William Scull next, and Terence Crawford later this year, but before all of that, he spent some time in his gym with a well-known Mexican influencer.

Canelo Alvarez is set to become a two-time undisputed super-middleweight in May, as he faces William Scull in a fight that many see being a one-sided affair.

Canelo boasts a record of 62-2-2, whilst Scull is undefeated at 23-0, picking up the IBF belt after defeating Vladimir Shishkin in a close-fought contest.

It seemed that the Mexican superstar was likely to face Jake Paul, but a multi-fight deal with Turki Alalshikh at the eleventh hour dashed Paul’s chances of the big payday.

Despite this, Canelo has been seen boxing alongside a different influencer – Paulo Chavira.

Canelo hurts Narcos actor with a powerful body shot

Chavira is a popular Mexican influencer and actor, starring in ‘Narcos: Mexico’, amongst other things. In a clip posted to X, Canelo can be seen delivering a solid right hand to Chavira’s chest.

Though a good shot, it’s safe to say Canelo, whose toughest rival, Billy Joe Saunders scored a knockout on KSI vs Logan Paul’s undercard, was just joking around with the Mexican influencer.

Fans were quick to react to the clip, with many likening Chavira to a fighter many believe Canelo to be ducking and a fighter who has made no secret of the fact he used to be overweight – David Benavidez, who allegedly dropped Dmitry Bivol in sparring:

“Rare footage of Canelo and a young David Benavidez sparring”

Others compared Chavira to another boxer:

“Nice to see Andy Ruiz back doing what he loves”

And some used the situation as a means to mock Canelo’s next opponent:

“Better fight then crawford and scull tbh”

Canelo Alvarez, Naoya Inoue, Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia all to fight on Cinco De Mayo weekend

On Friday May 2nd, The Ring will be hosting its card in Times Square, featuring Ryan Garcia vs Rolly Romero, Devin Haney vs Jose Ramirez, and Teofimo Lopez vs Arnold Barboza Jr.

The event has been made with the intention of matching up the winners, potentially paving the way for a rematch between Garcia and Haney after their first fight, which Garcia won, was marred with controversy after he was found guilty of using PEDs.

Oscar De La Hoya has warned Haney that he may never recover from his loss to Garcia.

The following day, Canelo, whose rival Billy Joe Saunders fled from Deontay Wilder after throwing chicken at him, will take on Scull in Saudi Arabia, with Martin Bakole vs Efe Ajagba and Jaime Munguia vs Bruno Surace 2 set for the undercard.

Finally, Sunday will see Naoya ‘The Monster’ Inoue face Ramon Cardenas in Nevada. This will be Inoue’s first fight outside of Japan in four years, and a win will set up a fight with MJ Akhmadaliev.
