Dillian Whyte flattened British rival with left hook years before facing Tyson Fury

British boxing veteran Dillian Whyte is set to return to action on June 7th with an opponent yet to be announced.

Whyte will go into the bout with a 31-3 record, with his last fight being a win over Ebenezer Tetteh in December 2024.

Whyte is currently riding a three-fight win streak following a TKO loss to Tyson Fury in 2022.

The most impressive run of ‘The Body Snatcher’s’ career came following his loss to Anthony Joshua. An 11-fight winning streak from 2016-2019 included a brutal knockout over his rival.

Dillian Whyte knocked out Derek Chisora in a 2018 headline bout

In 2016, a 28-year-old Whyte would take on a 32-year-old Derek Chisora in Manchester to kick off their rivalry. Competing across 12 rounds, the two British heavyweights would have a close affair.

However, it would be Whyte who could boast victory as he was awarded a split decision by the judges. Despite the close nature of the bout, the pair would not rematch for another two years.

In December 2018, Whyte and Chisora would meet again at the O2 Arena in London in a headline bout. Once again competing in a fight scheduled for 12 rounds, the rivals would have another close meeting.

Although each man had success in the fight, the result of their sequel bout would be much more conclusive than their first.

Had the fight ended after the 10 completed rounds in London, Chisora would have been the victor as he was ahead on two of the judges’ scorecards. However, a finishing blow would come in the penultimate round of the fight.

Catching Chisora with a left hook, Whyte made sure to keep the judges’ scorecards out of the result, as ‘Del Boy’ was put down and out.

Unable to recover from the blow, Chisora lost the back-and-forth grudge match.

Dillian Whyte has only been bested by elite fighters in his career

Despite having a 13-year career, Whyte has only been beaten by the heavyweight division’s best fighters.

The first defeat of Whyte’s career would come in 2015, as he was stopped by Anthony Joshua. In ‘AJ’s’ next outing, he would become a world heavyweight champion.

Alexander Povetkin delivered Whyte his second loss of his career in 2020, thanks to a fifth-round knockout. Povetkin had previously held the WBA (Regular) World Heavyweight title and was considered one of the best fighters in the division in the 2010s.

Whyte was also able to get revenge on Povetkin as the pair had an immediate rematch, with the British fighter winning via TKO.

Whyte’s most recent loss came in his meeting with Fury in 2022. Getting stopped in round six, Whyte was unable to take Fury’s WBC World Heavyweight title.
