Deontay Wilder got wobbled by a 398lbs heavyweight in a dramatic forgotten fight

Deontay Wilder was sent flying into the ropes by a fighter who weighed almost 400 pounds.

Throughout his sensational career, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ has proven himself as one of the heaviest hitters the sport has ever seen. Wilder once left Siarhei Liakhovich twitching on the floor after landing a right hand, and his comeback wins over Luis Ortiz have gone down in the history books.

However, while he packs a massive punch himself, he isn’t immune to being hurt.

On a night he won’t ever forget, a fighter who weighed over 150 pounds more than him rocked him with a massive shot.

Deontay Wilder got hurt by an almost 400lbs Dustin Nichols

On July 3, 2010, Deontay Wilder went to war with Dustin Nichols, who weighed in at 398lbs.

While the bout was expected to serve as nothing more than an experience-builder for the Alabama brawler, the reality turned out to be anything but.

The fans in attendance at the Club Palace in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA, were given a treat as Wilder started launching bombs from the first bell.

The future WBC world heavyweight champion showboated, showing little concern for what was being thrown in his direction.

Then, in a truly surprising moment, Nichols connected with a huge left hook, sending the favorite tumbling into the ropes.

While the referee didn’t call a knockdown, other officials may have given Wilder a ten-count.

Realizing he was in a fight, the power puncher bit down on his gum shield and landed a big shot of his own, scoring a knockdown.

Nichols managed to survive until the end of the round, where he was pulled out, awarding Wilder his 11th professional win.

Luckily, despite the scare, Wilder emerged from his contest with Nichols completely unscathed.

However, just two fights later, he was back in deep waters.

In what was almost a monumental upset, the boxer faced serious adversity against a journeyman.

Shockingly, Wilder was dropped by a fighter with a 17-20-2 record.
