Deontay Wilder destroyed a former soccer hooligan with a horrifying knockout blow

Deontay Wilder is possibly the biggest puncher in boxing history, with ‘The Bronze Bomber’ once rendering a former soccer hooligan unconscious.

At the peak of his powers, the Alabama brawler was a terrifying fighter, capable of turning the lights off with just a single shot.

Even Tyson Fury had to get up like The Undertaker after tasting Wilder’s power, in their first bout, in which ‘The Gypsy King’ was seemingly cruising to victory.

However, while the Brit managed to climb to his feet, not everyone can say the same, with one of the American’s former opponents feeling the full wrath of his dynamite hands.

Deontay Wilder knocked Artur Szpilka out cold with a thunderous punch

On January 16, 2016, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, USA, Deontay Wilder and Artur Szpilka went head-to-head in an epic battle for the WBC heavyweight world title.

With Tyson Fury sitting ringside, the power puncher knew he needed to make a statement, and he did that in abundance.

However, getting the job done certainly wasn’t easy, as Szpilka hadn’t set foot in the ring just to make up the numbers.

The former soccer hooligan had carved out a fearsome reputation on the streets, with the brawler fighting with the ultras for Polish second-tier side Wisla Krakow.

And he took that experience into the squared circle, producing a truly spectacular performance. Utilizing his slick southpaw skills, he was able to outbox Wilder for large portions of the fight.

Even more impressively, he ate several right hands and managed to laugh them off, but while this was great at the time, it proved to be his undoing.

Growing in confidence, Szpilka lunged forward with a left hook, and was caught by a perfect shot, with an absolute bomb detonating on his chin.

The world title challenger collapsed to the floor, and was subsequently taken on a stretcher backstage.

In the aftermath, Fury got in the ring, and challenged Wilder for a showdown. And several years later, the pair engaged in an epic trilogy.
