Chris Eubank Jr. one-upped Gennadiy Golovkin with dominant win over durable opponent

Chris Eubank Jr. will face Conor Benn later this month in a legacy-defining all-British clash to settle their family rivalry once and for all.

Chris Eubank Jr. poses a lot of questions ahead of the fight Conor Benn, as despite his dominant performances over many opponents, his shortcomings on every occasion where he’s stepped up in opposition have fans wondering where his ceiling lies.

Benn on the other hand hasn’t fought a great deal of known opposition. Benn retired three men in a row, but most were former champions well past their best.

Benn’s latest performance saw him win a points decision over Pete Dobson, whilst Eubank’s saw a dominant victory over Gennadiy Golovkin‘s former foe.

Chris Eubank Jr. beat high-level contender quicker than Gennadiy Golovkin, but only just

In 2020, Golovkin faced 21-0 Kamil Szeremeta in defense of the IBF and IBO middleweight world titles.

The powerhouse Golovkin, who stopped Gabriel Rosado, dropped Szeremeta in rounds one, two, four, and seven before Szeremeta’s corner deemed the Kazakh too much and pulled their fighter out after the seventh round.

It wasn’t for another four years that Szeremeta would cross paths with Eubank, again for the IBO title.

Eubank matched Golovkin’s dominance well, also dropping Szeremeta four times, once in the first and second, and twice in the seventh.

Though Szeremeta made it to round seven against both men, Eubank ensured he did not make it to the bell at the end of the round.

Just one fight after his match with Golovkin, Szeremeta was thrown in against rising 36-0 contender, Jaime Munguia.

Munguia delivered a dominant performance, though was unable to knock Szeremeta down.

His onslaught was too much for the Pole, who quit in his corner after the sixth round, making Munguia’s win over him the quickest loss of Szeremeta’s career.

His record remains at 25-3-2 having not fought since his loss to Eubank Jr.

Eubank Jr.’s next fight will see him face Benn, who screamed at Adrian Granados after he kept running in their fight.
