Chris Eubank once revealed the reason behind his extremely posh accent and how he managed to obtain it.
Eubank is a larger than life character and although he had a glamorous boxing career, becoming middleweight and super middleweight champion of the world, it’s his out of ring antics that he is better known for these days.
The 58-year-old is ranked as the third best British super-middleweight boxer of all time but has since gone to become a media personality – most notably in British reality TV show, I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
However, the one thing everyone seems to be hooked on is his rather marvelous accent, but there is a secret behind it.

How Chris Eubank copied his accent from a TV show
Youngsters are often very impressionable and will pick up things and try and copy them.
From a boxing perspective, there would’ve been many who tried to replicate Eubank’s never-say-die attitude in the ring or the punching power of Mike Tyson.
In Chris Eubank’s case, it was an accent he copied. During an interview with Piers Morgan back in 2021, the boxing legend revealed that his soothing voice was picked up from a 1970s period drama called Upstairs, Downstairs.
Morgan asked: “I mean, you’re very flamboyant. Always have been. You’re very eloquent. Obviously, your voice is very distinctive. Where does that come from? Because I was told you listen to BBC One, the World Service in America?”
Chris then replied: “Upstairs, Downstairs. You remember that?”
The host then went on: “You watched that?… And you would listen to the way they spoke?” Eubank simply replied: “Yes.”
He continued: “I lived with what was downstairs. Yeah, I was heading upstairs.”
Chris Eubank’s boxing record
Middleweight boxing, especially in Britain, wouldn’t be the same without Eubank.
For the first 10 years of his professional career, Eubank would go unbeaten before huge world-title bouts against the likes of Nigel Benn and Michael Watson.
He would also face Joe Calzaghe for his WBO super-middleweight title and despite falling short, Calzaghe named him as his toughest opponent.
