Canelo faced vicious champion after outpointing Jake Paul’s next opponent

As Canelo’s career begins to wind down, huge fights are still coming up for the Mexican star, with a bid for the two-time undisputed super-middleweight crown this Saturday to be followed by a mega-fight with Terence Crawford later this year.

For most, Canelo is the undeniable face of boxing, and is a solid pick in the pound-for-pound lists of fans all over the world.

With wins over Liam Smith, Amir Khan, Billy Joe Saunders, Caleb Plant, and more, Canelo has cemented his legacy time and time again, including once back in 2017, when he beat the son of a legend in order to set up the most controversial fight of his career.

Canelo won every single round against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. to set up Golovkin clash

Following dominant KO wins over Smith and Khan, Canelo, who has faced eight Brits in his career, faced Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. the son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez.

Chavez was 50-2-1 at the time, compared to Canelo’s record of 48-1-1. Despite having less fights, Canelo proved himself to be the far more talented of the two fighters, comprehensively outworking and outboxing Chavez round after round.

Canelo’s work was on a different level to that of Chavez, who had no real answer for the elite talent on display against him.

Alvarez, who could face Chris Eubank Jr. next year, cruised to a unanimous decision win over the bigger and taller man, winning unanimously with three identical cards of 120-108.

The win set up Canelo’s mega-fight with Gennady Golovkin, which ended in a controversial draw, with their rematch ending in an equally, if not more, controversial decision in the form of a win for Alvarez.

Chavez Jr. has fought seven times since, though has lost three of them. He lost a huge upset to 1-1 Anderson Silva, and MMA champion, in 2021.

Chavez Jr. has been announced as Jake Paul‘s next opponent.

Canelo has a chance to history in his next fight this Saturday

With his win over Caleb Plant, who won a world title for his late daughter, Canelo became the first ever undisputed super-middleweight champion in boxing.

Now, years later, he has the chance to do it all over again, and become the first ever two-time undisputed super-middleweight world champion against William Scull, who currently holds the IBF title.

A win on Saturday will mean Canelo’s historical feat will just become even harder for anyone to top in the future of the division.

Scull is 23-0 and is visibly taller than Canelo, so it remains to be seen how the fight will play out.
