British heavyweight defeated seasoned opponent quicker than Tyson Fury, Joe Joyce and Luis Ortiz

Christian Hammer is a German heavyweight who has shared the ring with the highest level of boxers, including Tyson Fury.

Hammer’s record is now 27-12 after a career of never avoiding tough fights.

Hammer has faced Hughie Fury, Tony Yoka, Alexander Povetkin, Joe Joyce, Tyson Fury, Luis Ortiz, and Frank Sanchez.

Though he lost the majority of those fights, only four men have stopped Hammer before the halfway mark.

Christian Hammer’s most deadly opponent wasn’t Tyson Fury, it was ‘The Bodysnatcher’

Hammer fought Fury back in 2015, and lost in an eighth-round stoppage. He won his next five fights, including a victory over David Price, before losing three of his following six fights.

It was in 2021 that Fury’s cousin, Hughie Fury became the second man to stop Hammer before the halfway point in a fight, with the only other able to do so was Hammer’s opponent in his debut, with the fight being stopped due to a shoulder injury.

Though the record shows Hammer retired after the fifth round, this was supposedly due to a bicep injury on Hammer’s side.

His loss to Joyce, who lost to Filip Hrgovic lately, would have no such drama surrounding it, as there was no time for Hammer to retire. ‘The Juggernaut’ scored a knockout win over the German in round four after dropping Hammer three times in the fight. Joyce one-upped Fury and became the third man to stop Hammer early.

Hammer didn’t fight for two years after that, but when he did, he might’ve wished he hadn’t. He faced Dillian Whyte, who was keen to make a comeback after inactivity of his own, and displayed his ruthlessness, forcing Hammer to retire after just three rounds.

‘The Bodysnatcher’ was set to fight Joyce recently, but Whyte withdrew with injury.

Christian Hammer’s career seems close to an end after one win in his last six fights

Following his loss to Hughie Fury, Hammer has won just one fight in his next five, a TKO win over 22-34 Drazan Janjanin in the opening round.

Hammer then lost three consecutive times to Joyce, Whyte, and most recently, 10-0 Arslem Suslenkov.

Though most of Hammer’s losses have come to high-level opposition, with only a handful of defeats being from opponents who didn’t go on to become household names or title holders, it seems with just one win in his last six, and three in his last ten, it may be time soon for ‘The Hammer’ to retire.

Hammer’s former foe, Joyce, also has only one win in his last four fights. Joyce beat Kash Ali, who bit David Price.
