Anthony Cacace will fight Leigh Wood tonight in a super featherweight clash.
Leigh Wood has snatched a victory from the jaws of defeat on more than one occasion.
Be it his resilience to return and school Mauricio Lara after being stopped, or his stroke of luck when Wood stopped Michael Conlan in the final seconds of their fight, or even in his most recent outing, when he defied the scorecards and knocked out Josh Warrington.
At the higher weight, it remains to be seen if Wood’s luck will wear thin, or if he will be able to perform against ‘The Andytown Apache’.
Cacace is 23-1, but has produced two career-defining performances in his last two fights, with one of them seeing him conquer a two-time world champion.

Anthony Cacace knocked out Joe Cordina to claim his world titles in huge upset
Joe Cordina won his IBF super featherweight title with a devastating knockout of Kenichi Ogawa.
After withdrawing from his next fight with injury, Cordina was, perhaps unfairly, stripped of his title, and was forced to fight for it again against Shavkat Rakhimov.
He made one defense against Edward Vazquez before facing Cacace, who caused the biggest upset of the year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, when he stopped Cordina on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk.
Cacace dropped Cordina in round three before stopping him five rounds later.
Anthony Cacace retired Leigh Wood’s biggest rival, but only for a few months
Following up on his win over Cordina, Cacace faced Warrington in 2024. The Leeds man was looking to get his first win in two years having lost to Luis Alberto Lopez and Leigh Wood before facing Cacace.
However there was no fairytale ending, as Cacace outpointed and defeated Warrington, who announced his retirement by leaving his gloves in the ring following the loss.
Warrington, who wanted to rematch Wood, has since returned with a win, and is eyeing a fight with Michael Conlan next.
