Andy Ruiz Jr nearly rendered his coach unconscious when he accidentally detonated a massive punch on his chin.
In his esteemed career, ‘The Destroyer’ has made a reputation for his lightning hands and formidable boxing IQ.
Furthermore, it’s fair to say the Mexican-American carries a great deal of power. Ruiz exhibited his dynamite hands by dropping Anthony Joshua several times, en route to becoming the heavyweight champion of the world.
However, while he purposely cracked ‘AJ’ with his brutal left hook, he certainly didn’t mean to do the same thing to his trainer.

Andy Ruiz almost drops trainer with powerful punch
Back in 2021, Andy Ruiz Jr shared a video of himself working on the pads with his coach.
However, unlike his usual sessions, on this occasion, it wasn’t just the piece of equipment that took the brunt of the boxer’s power, but his trainer as well.
The fighter uploaded the video to his Twitter, with the caption: “I barely touched him. What do you think? Retweet and let me know.”
The clip showcases the fighter throwing an explosive combination, made up of a number of left hooks, the last of which rocks the padman to his core.
However, while many a man would’ve been left asleep on the floor, in a testament to his chin, somehow, the recipient of the shot remained standing.
Exhibiting his human side, Ruiz Jr, rushed over to make sure he was ok, before giving him a hug.
When will Andy Ruiz Jr fight next?
The night Ruiz Jr beat Anthony Joshua has gone down in boxing history as one of the biggest upsets of all time.
However, despite producing such a big win, the warrior has been unable to capitalize on it.
After losing comprehensively in the rematch, the sportsman has been relatively inactive, most recently picking up a controversial draw against Jarrell Miller, in a match-up in which he broke his hand.
However, a return to the ring could be imminent, with the 35-year-old posting an Instagram story, with the caption: “I’ve got the green light from the doctor, let’s go. Who should I fight this year?”
