WOW: Manny Pacquiao called out by boxing legend who’s willing to come out of retirement
Knowing just how brilliant the Ukrainian was, despite being tired from a tough session, the Aussie ran to the store, fuelled up on energy drinks, and jumped through the ropes for an experience he’ll never forget.
In an exclusive interview with Bloody Knockout, ‘The Monster’ said: “I sparred Lomachenko back in 2017. He was about a week or so out from his fight on the Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao undercard. So, he was primed and ready to go.
“I was over there sparring in Oxnard in Robert Garcia’s gym, and I’d just finished training with Evgeny Gradovich, who was a world champion at the time as well.
“I’d done six rounds, and I was leaving the gym after a big session, when Egis Klimas said, ‘Vasiliy Lomachenko is sparring this afternoon and his sparring partners can’t make it. Do you wanna spar Loma’?
“Obviously, you’re never going to turn down that opportunity, even though I was exhausted.
“He said, ‘He’ll be here in the hour’. So, I quickly ran and got a Gatorade and a banana from the local petrol station, and it was just a pleasure to share the ring with him. He’s a legend of the sport, and one of the best fighters of our era.”
Andrew Moloney is hoping a victory this weekend will move him a step closer to another world title fight
Having already climbed the boxing mountain, Moloney is desperate to taste world title glory once again.
With that in mind, he’s returning to the ring on December 15, at Melbourne Pavillion in Australia, against a tough fighter in the form of 47-6-2 Thai brawler — Jakrawut Majungoen.
The 33-year-old said: “My opponent is a good fighter. He’s very experienced, he’s had sixty-odd fights. They fight so often over there. It’s so different the way they go about things. He’s had two fights in the last month.
“He’s shared the ring with some good fighters. He gave Daigo Higa, who’s a fantastic Japanese fighter, a really tough fight; he pushed him hard. I highly rate Higa.
“I’m expecting a tough night. It’s a fight where I have to be on my A-game.”
