Gennadiy Golovkin will go down in history as one of the most durable world champions to ever compete in the sport of boxing.
From showing his elite chin against Canelo Alvarez to Golovkin earning a stunning knockout in his penultimate fight, ‘GGG’ is a true legend of the game.
Retiring with a professional record of 42-2-1, the only blemishes on Golovkin’s career have come from his rival, one of the greatest Mexican boxers of all time.
In what was one of Golovkin’s most impressive outings, the Kazakh fighter stopped a title challenger in style.

Gennadiy Golovkin stopped Gabriel Rosado after vicious beatdown
Aiming to make the sixth defense of his WBA World Middleweight title, Golovkin would look to get past Gabriel Rosado.
The fighter from the US challenged Golovkin with a 21-5 record, and was getting his first world title opportunity. Going into the fight, Rosado had won five of his last six fights via knockout.
However, despite this good run of form going into their January 2013 meeting, Golovkin would be successful in New York.
Although ‘GGG’ would not be able to send his opponent to the canvas, it was a one-sided world title bout for the champion. Bloodied and bruised, Rosado wore significant damage on his face, finding himself behind after six completed rounds.
The commentary team described Rosado as “All busted up,” and that his “Blood is flying all over the ringside.”
In the seventh round, Rosado’s corner had seen enough. As the title challenger was covered in blood, the towel was thrown in, and Golovkin won the bout via TKO.
Gennadiy Golovkin had his 37-fight winning streak snapped by Canelo Alvarez
Golovkin’s win over Rosado was his 25th in a row, as he had been victorious in every one of his professional fights.
From 2006 to 2017, Golovkin defeated every single opponent that he faced in the ring. However, when he met Alvarez for the first time, his streak was snapped.
Facing the Mexican in a middleweight title unification bout in September 2017, the pair would fight to a split draw. Although Golovkin did not fall to defeat, it was his first non-victory in his professional career.
When the pair rematched the following year, then, Golovkin would suffer his first loss.
