Deontay Wilder will look at his upcoming opponent’s previous losses as he plans to earn a comeback victory in his next fight.
The former heavyweight champion is returning to the ring for the first time in over a year on June 27.
He is hoping to bounce back from two consecutive losses in his last fights, which included Deontay Wilder being knocked out by Zhilei Zhang.
While the bout should see Wilder pick up the win, he will have to take cues from another former Olympic medalist if he wants to take home the victory.

Tyrrell Herndon was knocked out by Richard Torrez Jr two years before Deontay Wilder fight
Two years before the biggest fight of his career against Wilder, Tyrrell Herndon suffered a devastating knockout loss against a former Olympic medalist.
Richard Torrez Jr. won a silver medal at the 2020 Olympic Games, 12 years after Wilder won a bronze medal in Beijing.
He turned professional in 2022 and went on an impressive streak, winning his first six fights by knockout en route to a fight with Herndon.
Despite Herndon being on a nine-fight winning streak, he was no match for Torrez Jr in their October 2023 fight.
Torrez Jr flew out of the blocks, relentlessly attacking his opponent and knocking him down in the first round. Herndon had no defense against the Olympian, continuing to turn his back to avoid some heavy punches, much to the chagrin of the referee.
After some huge punches, it became clear that Herndon had nothing to stop Torrez Jr. The referee ended the fight on a TKO, before a huge knockout came that could have really damaged him.
The loss should be an eye-opener for Wilder about how he can win his comeback fight on June 27.
Deontay Wilder will hope to emulate his fellow Olympian in his comeback fight with Herndon
Herndon’s loss against Torrez Jr will be something Wilder will be looking at closely, as he prepares to face his fellow American fighter in his comeback fight.
After going 43 fights in a row without a loss, with all but one victory coming via KO, Wilder has struggled in recent years.
The former World Heavyweight champion has lost four of his last five fights, including Wilder’s two defeats against Tyson Fury and his KO loss to Zhilei Zhang.
To get back to winning ways, he will need to emulate his fellow Olympic medalist Torrez Jr if he wants to beat Herndon and improve his record in his return to the ring.
