Manny Pacquiao vs Mario Barrios
The hype behind the Pacquiao vs Barrios fight is huge, which is understandable given the incredible star power “PacMan” brings to the bout.
The eight-weight champion hasn’t boxed competitively in four years. Pacquiao’s last fight was a shock defeat to Yordenis Ugas, before he announced his retirement from the sport.
His return was a big shock, as was the WBC ruling to give Pacquiao a title shot against Barrios. This gives PacMan the chance to claim his 13th world title, in eight different weight classes.
However, Barrios will not give up on the title without a fight. With the champion admitting that there is no rematch clause in place, this is his one chance to face and beat Pacquiao with his world title belt on the line.
Pacquiao will become one of the oldest world champions in history with a win here, something the 46-year-old will have on his mind on fight night.
Sebastian Fundora vs Tim Tszyu 2
The most exciting fight outside of the main event has to be a rematch of epic proportions between Sebastian Fundora and Tim Tszyu.
Fundora is one of the tallest world champions in boxing, standing at six feet six, while surprisingly fighting in the Super Welterweight division.
Fundora vs Tszyu 1 saw a bloody war after Tszyu was cut on his head. Blood gushed from the wound, leaving both men covered in it and giving one of the most striking visuals of 2024.
The classic fight ended after 12 rounds, where the judges awarded Fundora the victory, but Tszyu more than earned a rematch on the undercard for this event.
Isaac Cruz vs Angel Fierro 2
In the second rematch on the card, Isaac Cruz once again battles Angel Fierro in a repeat of their epic slugfest
“Pitbull” beat Fierro in their fight in February, being handed the unanimous decision victory in an all-out war in Las Vegas.
Their rematch is a welcome one for boxing fans, who experienced a fantastic bout first time around, and to whom the winner was awarded the honorary WBC Aztec Warrior title.
Brandon Figueroa vs Joet Gonzalez
A massive fight between a former world champion and a three-time title challenger battle it out in the fourth fight on the night of Pacquiao vs Barrios.
Brandon Figueroa will face Joet Gonzalez on the undercard. Figueroa is a former world champion in two weight divisions, boasting a record of 25 wins and just 2 losses in his career so far.
He will take on Joet Gonzalez, a fighter with a mixed record in the last few years, whom Figueroa will be confident of beating on the night.
Gonzalez has lost four of his last eight fights and has failed to pick up back-to-back wins since 2019. His last fight was also nearly two years ago, so ring rust could also be an issue.
Prelims
Three fights have been announced for the prelims of the Manny Pacquiao vs Mario Barrios event.
Mexican fighter David Picasso aims to extend his 32-fight undefeated streak when he takes on Kyonosuke Kameda in a 10-round preliminary bout.
Meanwhile, 5-0 Eumir Marcial, one of three Filipinos on the card, including Pacquiao, takes on American Alexis Gaytan.
Finally, Filipino fighter Mark Magsayo and Mexican Jorge Mata battle it out on the final fight of the card in what should be a tremendous evening of boxing.
